Dragon Donations
Thanks to everyone who put their hands in their pockets for the Dragon Fest this year.
Over 5000 euros was raised in total, around 4000 of this money was already accounted for; about 2500 was spent on mostly on steward materials (although all the stewards did it for nothing), fencing and printing. Around 1500 has been mostly used for cleaning up the site after the festival.
The balance will be spent on some regeneration of Los Cigarrones and some will be saved for the Dragon Festival fund.
Unfortunately many residents of Los Cigarrones are against the Dragon Festival and it has been decided that the Dragon Festival will not take place in 2009.

Dear Friends, Family, Dragonistas, in keeping with the festival’s legendary vagueness, this website hasn’t been updated for ages..... Who cares?! WE DO!
We care because we are the people who live year round here in the Cigarrones valley. We need you to know that there are issues the festival and all its participants must address.
10,000 or so people can accumulate a colossal amount of rubbish over a few days and leave behind about 30,000 poohs. With as much traffic as a small town, our winding riverbed track is in permanent gridlock disabling any emergency access and pissing off non-festy traffic. Residents of the surrounding villages must be considered.
We’re on it! We’ve got solutions!
We’ve initiated a volunteer force of stewards to sort out the traffic and parking. We’re reducing, recycling and removing all the rubbish and not asking the local authority to foot the bill. We’re sorting out loads more toilets; so no shitting in people’s gardens... in fact don’t go in any garden uninvited. We’re also providing first aid and emergency cover. We’re resisting any corporate or authority “take over” and we are keeping it free.
Please help us to address these issues, your energy and spirit will be greatly received. Please give generously to our funds appeal.
