Frequently asked questions

Pink ParadeThe following are the most common questions:

When is the Dragon Festival this year?

20-23 March 2008

How much is a ticket?

The Dragon Festival is a free festival. If you're young, then you're excused from knowing what this is. A free festival in the spirit of Castlemorton, Stonehenge etc. is a gathering of people who all want to celebrate and participate in something that is free and spontaneous. There is no entry fee, pitch charges, commerical stalls. In this consumerist and commercial world it can seem like an alien concept, but get this, no big cheese is making any money from the Dragon Festival.

The DragonFest gets bigger and bigger every year and last year because of the sheer volume of cars, trucks and people it got a bit scary. There were some toilets, but some people, unlike bears, don't know how to shit in the woods, so the residents of Los Cigarrones got left with a massive clean up operation. This year we will be asking for a donation from people when they arrive. We'll also be asking big rigs to dig some toilets.

Can I bring my records?

You can bring what you like, but unless you've got your own decks, rig etc. there's no guarantee you'll play. Unless you're a right smooth talker.

I've got a guitar, can (my band and) I perform?

Again, unless you know someone who's running a stage, you'll have to bring your own. There is no guarantee that you'll get a slot.

Can we set up our falafell/peircing/clothes made of hemp and wheatgrass stall? How much for a pitch?

See above. If you do bring your own tent, stock, life etc also remember to bring water butts and a generator. There is no running water or power at Cigarrones.

Alright I'm coming, what should I bring?

Light, at least a headtorch - its really dark at night.
Water - THERE IS NO WATER ON SITE.
A shovel, for shitting in the woods
Any other luxuries you fancy eg. a tent.

Whats the weather like?

The six million dollar question: in March it can be boiling hot/pissing down/freezing at night/gale force 10. Its more likely to be warm and sunny during the day and chilly at night.

Where should I park/pitch?

The Dragonfest site is a long thin one with rocky and difficult terrain. Don’t try and get right into the thick of it, especially if you arrive after Thursday. Don’t park/pitch anywhere where you won’t leave enough space for 2 trucks to pass side by side. Don’t park anywhere where lemmings might follow. This is really important. You could get towed/dragged away. Don’t pitch a tent on private land (if in doubt please ask).
