About the Dragon Festival

Tribal PunkThe Dragonfest - forever real, forever free, Don't just go to the festival, go with the festival. Take there what you would wish to see there, Don't spectate, participate

Another year of music, life and stuff brings us to the 12th Dragon Festival, a free festival celbrating the spring equinox. This year the Dragonfest is from 21st - 23rd March.

The Dragon Festival is a free festival. A free festival in the spirit of Castlemorton, Stonehenge etc. A gathering of people who all want to celebrate and participate in something that is free and spontaneous in the Andalucian sunshine. There is no entry fee, pitch charges, commercial stalls. In this consumerist and commercial world it can seem like an alien concept, but get this, no big cheese is making any money from the Dragon Festival.

There are no observers, only participants, we are ALL responsible for what the Dragon IS and what it BECOMES. One of the things that remains unchanged is the environmental impact of such a large number of people in one place for such a short time and that manifests itself in the amount of rubbish and shit people leave behind.

So far we have managed to do a deal privately with the local council whereby we pay them to come around and collect but the sheer volume will become a problem which we must tackle and various ways spring to mind all needing peoples participation to work.

The Dragon Festival is based on a river bed near Orgiva in Spain. There is no power or running water. There are no organisers. You must be responsible for your own stuff.

1 Be responsible for your stuff and don't just chuck it anywhere
2 RECYCLING- please leave your tinnies or any other rubbish at designated places (even if it's only in a bin bag) as we intend to weigh in all the aluminium to help pay for rubbish collection

So all in all please be aware of your impact and reduce it as much as possible so cigarrones doesn't look like a rubbish tip for months after, bring a sound attitude and remember you get out what you put in so see you all here.
